Intuitive Machines is seeking a Mission Operations Engineer to coordinate multi-mission training and develop products for an integrated operations and engineering team.
Draft and maintain procedures for multiple spacecraft subsystems and other mission elements (Lunar Landers, Surface Vehicles, Communication Satellites, Ground Network, Simulator Operations)
Assist with identification of operational constraints from multiple integrated missions, including systems requirements, payload integration, and personnel/console team availability
Participate in planning, scripting, and execution of training simulations to support Intuitive Machines flight controllers and engineers
Provide mentorship and support of real-time operators to build and maintain effective operations teams across all IM programs
Develop integration products including test plans, regulatory documentation, system architecture and design solutions as related to operations, interface definitions, mission timelines, and procedures and other mission elements (Lunar Landers, Surface Vehicles, Communication Satellites, Ground Network, Simulator Operations) with a focus on training/pre-mission support
Eligible to cross-train in real-time support positions as required
Draft and maintain lessons and procedures for multiple spacecraft subsystems
Assist with real-time operations
B.S. in science/engineering or a related technical field
3-5 years’ experience in real-time human or robotic spacecraft operations with focus in one of the following technical disciplines:
Communications operations (scheduling of ground and relay assets, managing a spacecraft comm system and customers real-time)
GNC/Trajectory operations - Spacecraft core systems (C&DH, Power, Thermal, Life Support, Propulsion, etc.)
Excellent verbal and written communication
Use and editing of organized operations or mission timelines
Planning and use of organized training scripts
Excellent verbal and written communication
Development and execution of both technical and team coordination procedures
Ability to work in a fast paced, hard charging, high stakes environment
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
Flexibility and creativity to seek, create, and utilize operations and systems engineering practices that suit a lean and agile lunar operations company without sacrificing technical excellence and integrity
Spacecraft integration and testing
Development of spacecraft preliminary designs including architecture studies, design analyses and budgets, and systems requirements and specifications
Experience translating design information and technical documentation into functional operations protocols, procedures, and mission sequences/timelines
Experience with documentation and collaboration tools such as Confluence, Jira, MS Office (MS PowerPoint, MS Word, MS Excel)
Must be a U.S. Citizen and successfully complete a U.S. government background investigation.
Applicant selected may be subject to government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
Work may involve sitting for extended periods.
May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lb.
Must have sufficient mobility to enter areas of test facilities where necessary.
Generally an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on task.
Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, fax, etc.)
Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical.
Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements when required.
Must be able to work in a team atmosphere.
